Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how PM Holdings ("we", "us", "our") handles personal information in connection with Carrier Hunt (carrierhunt.com, the "Service"). It covers two distinct groups: our users (people with Carrier Hunt accounts) and motor carriers whose publicly filed registration information appears in the Service.
1. Information we collect about users
- Account information — your name, email address, and (optionally) company name. Authentication is handled by our provider Clerk; if you sign in with Google or Facebook, we receive your name and email from that provider. We never see your password.
- Billing information — subscriptions are processed by Polar Software Inc., our merchant of record. Polar collects and processes your payment details; we never receive or store card numbers. We store only your plan status and subscription state.
- Usage and log data — standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps) collected by our hosting infrastructure for security and operations.
2. How we use it
- To provide and operate the Service, including authentication and the free/paid plan distinction.
- To process subscription billing through Polar.
- To respond to support requests and send service-related emails (e.g., billing or important product notices).
- To secure, debug, and improve the Service.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their advertising purposes.
3. Cookies and analytics
The Service uses essential session cookies set by our authentication provider (Clerk) to keep you signed in, and Google Analytics cookies to help us understand aggregate usage — pages visited, general location, device type, and which features are used. We use this only to improve the Service; analytics data is not used for advertising, and we do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can block analytics cookies in your browser (or via Google's opt-out add-on) without affecting how the Service works.
4. Service providers
We share personal information only with the providers that run the Service:
- Clerk (clerk.com) — authentication and account management.
- Polar Software Inc. (polar.sh) — payment processing and billing, as merchant of record.
- Render (render.com) — application hosting and database infrastructure (United States).
- Google Analytics — aggregate usage analytics, as described in Section 3.
- Google Fonts — page typography; your browser requests font files from Google's servers, which involves your IP address.
Each provider processes data under its own privacy terms and our agreements with them.
5. Carrier data (FMCSA public records)
The Service displays information about motor carriers — company names, DOT numbers, business addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, and company officer names — sourced from the FMCSA Company Census File, a public record published by the United States Department of Transportation. Carriers file this information themselves when registering with FMCSA, and it is publicly available from FMCSA directly.
We process this data on the basis of its status as a public government record and our legitimate interest in making public business information usable for business-to-business purposes. We display it as published by FMCSA and refresh it daily.
If you are a carrier or company officer and wish to correct your information, update your filing with FMCSA (Form MCS-150) — our copy updates automatically from FMCSA's data. If you want your contact details suppressed from Carrier Hunt specifically, email support@carrierhunt.com and we will action the request within 30 days.
6. Data retention
We keep account information for as long as your account exists, and for a reasonable period afterward as needed for legal, billing, and security purposes. You can request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time (see Section 7). Carrier data reflects the current FMCSA public record.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under the EU/UK GDPR and US state privacy laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act), you may have the right to:
- access a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- correct inaccurate information;
- delete your personal information;
- receive your information in a portable format;
- object to or restrict certain processing.
To exercise any of these rights, email support@carrierhunt.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law (30 days in most cases), and we will never discriminate against you for exercising your rights. We do not sell or "share" personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA, so there is nothing to opt out of.
8. International transfers
The Service is operated from the United States and our infrastructure is US-based. If you use the Service from outside the US, your information is transferred to and processed in the United States.
9. Security
All traffic to the Service is encrypted in transit (TLS). Access to production systems is restricted, authentication is delegated to a dedicated provider (Clerk), and payment data is handled entirely by our payment provider (Polar). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work with established providers and follow reasonable industry practice.
10. Children
The Service is for business use by adults. It is not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced by email or a notice in the Service, and the "Last updated" date above always reflects the current version.
